Rang Jetset Plumbing @ 8.30am in the morning with a hot water issue. Daniel H was extremely thorough and polite, explained available options which unfortunately meant a replacement system. The work was completed to high standard. Would use Jetset again
Can’t thank Joe enough today for providing options for all budget's, was able to answer all my questions. Allowing me to make the best decision and was able to complete the hot water installation in a few hours . We have used Jetset several times and recommend.
Rang the office regarding the hot water system which required replacement. Was expecting it to take a day or so before it could be seen to. Extremely grateful that Joe was able to attend the same day and replace the unit. 🙂
Thank you Dan, Tom, Andrew and Amber for sorting out my new hot water system real quick. Exceptional services!
Owen came too a deliver a quote on a number of jobs during renovations. He was very approachable regarding my lack of knowledge and talked through options available. Booking and installation was seamless. Definitely get him in for any whether works.
Jetset Plumbing offered same day service for us. We had a leaking hot water service. I would recommend
Installers turned up on time and completed all works required and took away all rubbish. They were very professional, knowledgeable and friendly and carried out the work within the time they had estimated. From Quote to completion I cannot fault these guys and would highly recommend them to anyone requiring plumbing work.
Howie installed a new Hot Water cylinder and new taps and mixer in the laundry - Tom did the electrical work. Both were quick, efficient and clean workers. Can’t speak highly enough of the professionalism and service from both tradesmen. Would highly recommend this company and these two tradesmen.
I made a phone call on Thursday afternoon to have our hot water system checked, as it was running on 1 element instead of both elements. The unit was 28 years old and deemed not worth repairing. A new hot water system is in place and running less than 24 hrs after making the phone call. Rhys (Plumber) friendly and efficient and Tom (Sparky), both approachable and professional did their parts in ensuring a good install was completed and compliant too today's standards.
Callout for defective pressure limiting valve function on HWS. .. Joe had it fixed with new valve within the hour. Excellent. Thank you.
I phoned on a Monday re a replacement water heater, appointment was fixed for the following day and new heater was installed by Jo on Tuesday! Great service! Jo phoned ahead to let us know when he would be arriving and was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Thoroughly recommend.
Both Dan & Andrew from Jetset Plumbing were very professional and friendly. Dan arrived a couple of hours after I called Amber from the office for help after my hot water system died the night before. Andrew arrived on time the next morning to install my new hot water system and I was most impressed with the teams incredible knowledge, efficiency and were very informative. They really know how to look after their customers. Thank you Jetset Plumbing ...

Types of Electric Hot Water Heaters

Electric hot water systems are still the most common type of water heater used in New South Wales homes. Of these, storage hot water systems are the most popular, as opposed to instantaneous hot water systems, because they can service a greater demand.

Electric Storage Hot Water System

In an electric storage hot water heater, cold water flows through to the storage unit and is then heated to a set temperature by internal electric heating elements. As it is heated, the water rises to the top of the tank where it remains stored until there is a distribution demand.

Electric Instant Hot Water System

Otherwise known as continuous flow heaters, instantaneous electric hot water systems work by heating water on demand. When a hot water tap is turned on, cold water flows through a heat exchanger in order to provide hot water.

These are more efficient than their storage counterparts, but they do have a higher upfront cost. Instant hot water systems can also have a lag in their hot water supply during high demand periods; the more taps turned on, the slower the hot water will be.

Why Choose Electric Hot Water?

We understand choosing the right hot water system can be difficult, especially with a greater push for environmentally friendly households.

The main selling point for these electric storage heaters is their low upfront cost. Often, new hot water systems are bought when the old one has failed, or is at least close to it. Electric hot water systems make that initial purchase far more affordable; it also helps that they are generally easier to install and last for at least 10-15 years.

If the running costs are making you hesitant, there are some storage systems that can be connected to off-peak power periods. This restricts the times at which the heating system can actually heat. Though these periods are often between the hours of 11pm to 7am, meaning the units need to be larger as they cannot continuously heat throughout the day.

What To Consider Before Going Electric

While the upfront costs might be lower, there are important factors to consider when looking to buy an electric hot water system.

Electric hot water systems are not the most efficient or environmentally friendly system on the market. The water in these storage units must be kept to a minimum of 60°C to prevent bacterial growth. This means there is a constant demand for energy use, making the running costs higher than gas or solar hot water systems.

These water tanks are also large, often needing to hold at least 120-160 litres of water, if not more depending on your household needs. This means they take up space. Though there are both indoor and outdoor options for these storage units, space is not always in abundance for some homeowners.

Electric Hot Water System Maintenance

Electric hot water systems should be serviced every five years to ensure longevity and provide maximum functionality.

Whether your system needs a pressure test, a clean out, or even replacement parts, Jetset Plumbing is ready to help. Our electric hot water specialists are experts at accurately diagnosing any issues your hot water system might have and providing solutions that suit your needs.

FAQs: Electric Hot Water Systems

Electric hot water systems use electric heating elements to heat water stored in a tank. When you turn on a hot water tap, the heated water from the tank is delivered to the tap.
Electric systems are often more energy-efficient compared to some other options. They are also relatively easy to install and can be more affordable upfront.
The main types include storage tank systems, where water is stored and continuously heated, and tankless systems that heat water on-demand as it passes through a heating element.
Regular maintenance involves flushing the tank to remove sediment buildup and checking for signs of corrosion. It's recommended to consult the manufacturer's guidelines or ask a plumber.
The lifespan varies, but well-maintained electric hot water systems can last around 10-15 years or more.
This could be due to a faulty heating element, a tripped circuit breaker, a malfunctioning thermostat, or issues with the electrical connections.
Electric systems can be efficient, especially newer models with improved insulation and energy-saving features. However, they might be less efficient than some other options like solar or heat pump systems.
You can adjust the thermostat to a lower temperature, insulate the tank, and consider using a timer to heat water during off-peak hours.
Yes, many electric hot water systems offer off-peak or controlled load options, which can be more cost-effective for heating water during non-peak hours.
Yes, you can switch to an electric system, but it might require adjustments to your plumbing and electrical setup. Consulting a professional is recommended.
Consider factors like the number of occupants in your home, water usage patterns, and the system's capacity. Consulting a plumber can help you make an informed decision.
